Iron Chef in the Foods Lab???

Do any of you hold an "Iron Cheff" type cooking contest in your foods course? How might I set up such a competition??

Julie, I have done this before in a class that I haven't had in a couple of years but it is a blast. I clean out the freezer and cabinets at school. I put the food in groups that I think will work together so every kitchen has different food. (Sometimes I purchase a few things to compliment the food items) They get to see the food a day ahead of time and create the recipe. Then they assemble it the second day and try the food and the class votes on the item they like the best. It's really fun. I also evaluate the food item and include their cooperation, clean up, creativity etc.
